If you’re searching for a hidden restaurant in Lincoln Park with standout cocktails and an unforgettable food menu, Le Mistral in Chicago absolutely deserves a spot on your list. This intimate neighborhood gem is known for being tough to book — and after finally snagging a reservation, I completely understand why. From creative cocktails to one of the most talked-about burgers in Chicago, every bite exceeded expectations.
I started the evening with the Bergamot Margarita made with tequila, acqua di cedro, and kumquat. It was bright, citrus-forward, and had just enough savory spice to keep it interesting — exactly how I love my margaritas.

To begin, we ordered:
The Pickle Plate with seasonal vegetables and manchego cheese
Cornbread Madeleines with olive oil butter
Black Truffle Croquettes with jalapeño and aged white cheddar
Everything felt unique and thoughtfully crafted, but I cannot stop thinking about the cornbread madeleines and the truffle croquettes. The cornbread was rich, slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced with the olive oil butter, while the croquettes were indulgent, crispy, and packed with bold truffle flavor.
Next, we tried the Crispy Chicken Sandwich served with serbo sauce, slaw, and house pickles. The chicken was perfectly tender on the inside with a crisp, golden exterior. The sauce and pickles added just the right amount of acidity to balance the richness.

One of the main reasons I booked Le Mistral was to try their well-known French Onion Burger. Served with melted gruyère and a side of au jus for dipping, this burger is easily one of the most flavorful in Chicago. The caramelized onion notes combined with the rich cheese and savory au jus made every bite incredibly satisfying.

For dessert, we skipped the chocolate chip cookies (next time!) and opted for an espresso martini instead. Smooth, balanced, and perfectly sweet, it was a classic way to end the night.

Le Mistral exceeded my expectations in both food and drinks. The intimate atmosphere, thoughtful menu, and standout dishes make it one of the best hidden restaurants in Lincoln Park.
