There’s nothing like going to a restaurant for a weekday dinner and finding out all bottles of wine are half off. Dining at mfk. on a Wednesday was the perfect choice for a girls’ night during the week. I really enjoyed everything we tried, especially how seafood-forward the menu was. Between the wine deal and variety of dishes, mfk. quickly became a new Chicago restaurant to add to my list.
Starting with the Gilda, this was a light bite made with an olive, anchovy, and pepper. Though it was small, I thought all of the flavors came together perfectly. It was a simple but flavorful way to start the meal.

Next up, we had to order the bread service with butter and olives. As someone who doesn’t typically love olives, I was surprisingly obsessed with these and couldn’t stop eating them. The bread and butter were also the perfect addition to the table.

We couldn’t resist trying the Chicken Croquetas served with aioli, peppers, and golden raisins. This was such a great bite of food, and I loved how the savory croqueta balanced with the creamy aioli and sweetness from the raisins.

The next dish was a major table favorite: the Chipotle-Glazed Carrots with maple, whipped cheese, and crispy shallot. Once again, all of the flavors blended together perfectly, creating a combination that made every bite so good. This was definitely one of the more unexpected standout dishes of the night.

For our entrée, we went with the Branzino, a special of the night served with lemon and potatoes. I thought this was the perfect lightly flavored fish and a great way to balance out some of the richer dishes we ordered earlier in the meal.

Of course, we had to order the Peach Cobbler from the specials list for dessert. I loved the fresh ingredients and the balance of flavors, making it a delicious finale to the meal.

I was pleasantly surprised by my dinner at mfk. This restaurant really hadn’t been on my radar before, but I will 100% be back to try more of the menu. Every dish we ordered was memorable, and I especially loved the seafood-forward menu. If you’re looking for a new Chicago restaurant for a girls’ night, mfk. is definitely worth adding to your list.
