El Che Steakhouse & Bar

El Che Steakhouse & Bar had been on my Chicago restaurant bucket list for quite some time, and I finally had the chance to visit for a Saturday night dinner. Known for its live-fire cooking, Argentine-inspired flavors, and expertly prepared steaks, El Che delivered an unforgettable dining experience from start to finish.

To begin the evening, I ordered the First Class cocktail, a unique blend of mezcal, tequila, Licor 43, cacao, and lemon. The cocktail was smooth and balanced, with smoky mezcal notes complemented by subtle sweetness and citrus flavors.

For appetizers, we started with two varieties of empanadas: the Italian Beef and the Spinach & Smoked Provolone. Both were packed with rich, savory flavors and quickly became a favorite around the table. The flaky pastry paired perfectly with the flavorful fillings, making them an excellent start to the meal.

Next, we ordered the Bone Marrow, one of my favorite dishes of the night. Rich and full of flavor, it was surprisingly generous in portion size and easily enough for the table to share. This is a must-order for anyone who enjoys bold, indulgent dishes.

To balance some of the richer courses, we added the Wedge Salad with lettuce, chimi ranch, blue cheese, bacon, and pecorino sardo. The fresh, crisp ingredients provided a contrast to the heavier dishes while still delivering plenty of flavor.

Another standout starter was the Wagyu Tartare, prepared with capers, egg yolk, and bone marrow aioli. The combination created a melt-in-your-mouth bite with layers of richness that tartare lovers will appreciate.

For my entrée, I ordered the Filet Mignon, and it exceeded expectations. The steak was cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful throughout, and paired beautifully with El Che’s signature Dada Sauce served on the side. It was easily one of the highlights of the meal.

No dinner is complete without dessert, so we finished with the Dulce de Leche Donuts. Served warm with cinnamon sugar and a side of chocolate sauce for dipping, these donuts were light, fluffy, and the perfect sweet ending to an indulgent meal.

Overall, El Che Steakhouse & Bar delivered a memorable steakhouse experience for me. From the creative cocktails and shareable appetizers to the perfectly cooked filet mignon and decadent desserts, every dish showcased the restaurant’s exceptional execution. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for one of the best steakhouse dinners in Chicago, El Che is well worth the reservation.
