The Loyalist in Chicago has long been on my foodie bucket list, thanks to its reputation for serving one of the best burgers in Chicago. Known for creative cocktails and an eclectic menu, The Loyalist offers a dining experience that blends elevated food with French-inspired flavors.
We started with the Gougères with Mimolette cheese and bacon cream. While beautifully presented, the flavor fell a little flat, and I wished we had tried another starter instead.

Next, we shared The Loyalist 1960’s Chopped Salad, made with ham and shrimp. It had a unique flavor profile and texture—interesting, though not my favorite of the night.

Then came the reason I visited: The Loyalist OG Cheeseburger. Served on a sesame bun with pickled and charred onion plus a side of fries, this burger absolutely lived up to the hype. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavor, it was one of the best burgers I’ve had in Chicago. The combination of the rich beef patty and the tangy onion topping made every bite outstanding.

To finish, we tried a couple of desserts. The Chocolate Chip Cookie was warm and fresh, but the star was definitely the Chocolate Profiteroles—a classic French dessert done right, with rich chocolate flavor and perfect texture.

Overall, The Loyalist delivered on its burger reputation and desserts, even though the appetizers didn’t quite shine. If you go, make sure to order the burger and profiteroles—you won’t be disappointed.
