If you’re looking for one of the best sushi happy hours in Chicago, Blue Sushi Sake Grill should be at the top of your list. I’ve been to Blue Sushi several times before and always leave impressed—not only by the quality of the rolls but also by the incredible value during happy hour. This time, I stopped by the Lincoln Park location to kick off a Friday evening with some sushi and cocktails.
I started with the Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita, made with cucumber-infused Casa Noble tequila, Grand Marnier, lime, and just the right amount of jalapeño heat. Refreshing, spicy, and unique—it’s a must-order drink if you’re visiting during happy hour.

For an appetizer, we went with the Crispy Rice Cake with Tuna, topped with scallions and tataki sauce. The rice was perfectly crunchy, and the tuna had great flavor, making it a standout starter and a classic take on crispy rice sushi.

My go-to order has always been the Lion King Roll, and this visit was no different. It comes loaded with crab mix, cucumber, avocado, spicy salmon, scallion, eel sauce, and chili aioli—a flavor-packed roll that’s hard to beat. To balance it out, I also tried the Tekka Roll, a simple yet fresh tuna roll that was the perfect lighter complement to the bold Lion King flavors.

Blue Sushi Sake Grill Lincoln Park has quickly become one of my favorite spots for both sushi and happy hour in Chicago. The consistency of the rolls, the creative cocktails, and the unbeatable happy hour deals make it a worthwhile visit whether you’re local or visiting the city.
