Sifr was the final stop on my Chicago Restaurant Week dining journey, and it did not disappoint. With authentic Middle Eastern flavors, handcrafted cocktails, and a beautifully curated four-course menu, this dinner was an incredible experience from start to finish.

To kick off the meal, I ordered the #6 cocktail, a unique blend of mezcal, Aperol, sake, and citrus. This refreshing and smoky drink was the perfect beginning to the bold flavors that followed.

For course one, the Mezze Plate arrived, featuring a variety of classic Middle Eastern flavors—hummus, charred green chickpeas, za’atar, Zhoug, puffed lentils, olive oil, and house pickles, all served with fresh, warm pita bread. The combination of the creamy hummus, tangy pickles, and crispy lentils was a perfect balance of textures and flavors.

For course two, I opted for the Maitake Mushroom, complemented by yellow pepper, za’atar, lemon, and parsley. The simplicity of the dish allowed the flavor of the mushroom to shine. The Lamb Kebabs, served with peppers, onions, and tzatziki, were also a table favorite, offering a smoky, juicy bite with a refreshing yogurt-based sauce.

For course three, I chose the Branzino, a light and fresh option that delivered delicate, flaky bites with a subtle, citrus-forward seasoning. Others at the table ordered the Roasted Chicken with couscous risotto and the Duck Fesenjan with pomegranate glaze and crispy fried onion. The couscous risotto had a flavorful, spiced depth, while the pomegranate glaze on the duck added the perfect sweet and savory contrast.

The Date Pudding with Salted Caramel Ice Cream was highly recommended by our server, and I’m so glad we listened. This dessert was rich and packed with deep caramelized flavors, perfectly balanced by the creaminess of the ice cream.

Sifr was a standout dining experience during Chicago Restaurant Week. The four-course menu allowed me to explore a variety of dishes, each one highlighting authentic spices, bold flavors, and fresh ingredients. Whether you're looking for Middle Eastern-inspired cocktails, perfectly grilled meats, or unique vegetarian options, Sifr delivers a memorable, flavorful meal in a great atmosphere.
