Yellowtail Sushi is one of the many sushi spots in Chicago worth adding to your dining list, especially if you’re craving fresh fish, flavorful rolls, and shareable small plates.
I started with the spicy garlic edamame which was packed with serious heat and bold garlic flavor, making it a standout appetizer. While I would’ve preferred it slightly less spicy, it was still incredibly addictive and hard to stop eating.

Next, we ordered the Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna, topped with marinated spicy tuna, scallions, unagi sauce, black tobiko, and avocado. This was a fresh and elevated take on the classic crispy rice—perfectly textured with a satisfying crunch and high-quality tuna that tasted incredibly fresh.

For the main event, I tried two signature rolls: the Dragon Roll and the Okaido Roll. The Dragon Roll featured unagi, shrimp tempura, tempura crunch, and avocado, while the Okaido Roll combined spicy tuna, unagi, avocado, and tobiko. Both rolls shared similar flavor profiles but still offered their own unique twist. The combination of rich unagi and fresh tuna was a highlight in both, making them perfect choices if you love bold, savory sushi rolls.

Overall, the food at Yellowtail Sushi was easily a 10/10. From the spicy edamame to the high-quality tuna and creative rolls, every dish delivered on flavor. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their extensive sushi menu.
