Crying Tiger is one of the newest and most talked-about restaurants in Chicago’s River North, and after dining there recently, I can confidently say the hype is well deserved. The menu is packed with bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and exciting dishes that highlight both sweet and spicy profiles.
To start, I ordered the Hamachi Crudo, a recommendation from our waiter. This dish was incredibly fresh, with a subtle heat and the perfect amount of crunch from the toppings.

Next, we tried the Crispy Pork Belly. It was rich, flavorful, and had a great contrast of textures, though slightly too fatty for my preference.

My favorite dish of the night was the Rolled Rice Noodles with mushrooms and broccoli. These noodles were packed with sweet-spicy flavor and had so many delicious components that came together perfectly. This is definitely the dish I would recommend ordering.

We also ordered the Crab Fried Rice with basil and garlic, which was another standout. The flavor was incredible — savory flavor and the perfect complement to the rolled rice noodles.

Overall, Crying Tiger is a fantastic addition to River North, especially if you love bold flavors and vibrant dishes. My top picks were the rolled rice noodles and the crab fried rice, and I’m already excited to return and try even more of the menu.
