If you’re looking for a luxurious seafood dining experience in Chicago, Miru should be at the top of your list. Located inside the St. Regis Chicago, this upscale restaurant is known for its fresh seafood, elevated Japanese-inspired cuisine, and lively ambiance. There was no better time to visit than a Friday during Lent, making it the perfect opportunity to explore a variety of seafood-forward dishes across the menu.

We kicked off the evening with cocktails, and the lychee martini was an instant standout—sweet, refreshing, and beautifully presented.

For starters, we ordered the Gem Salad, Grilled Edamame, and Seared Salmon Belly. Each dish brought something unique to the table. The Gem Salad featured a flavorful, well-balanced dressing, while the salmon belly was rich, buttery, and packed with flavor—an absolute must-order.

Next, we moved on to a selection of small plates, including the Hamachi & Lemon, Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, Kani Salad Crispy Rice, and Lobster Spring Rolls. The crispy rice dishes were the highlight of this course, offering the perfect combination of texture and freshness. The spicy tuna and kani salad were both incredibly flavorful, with just the right amount of crunch.

Of course, no visit to Miru is complete without sushi. We ordered a variety of rolls, including the Kani Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Triple Tuna Roll, and Eel Avocado Roll. This selection provided a great balance of flavors and textures, from crispy and savory to rich and melt-in-your-mouth. The Triple Tuna Roll and Eel Avocado Roll were personal favorites, standing out for their depth of flavor.

We also had to try the Grilled Octopus and Shrimp Fried Rice, both highly recommended—and they did not disappoint. The octopus was one of the best bites of the night: incredibly tender, buttery, and perfectly cooked. The shrimp fried rice was rich, savory, and packed with flavor, making it a satisfying addition to the meal.

To end the night, we indulged in dessert with the Black Sesame Mochi, served in a unique deconstructed style, along with a warm chocolate chip cookie and an espresso martini. It was the perfect sweet finish to an already incredible dining experience.

Overall, Miru exceeded expectations in every way. From the high-quality, fresh seafood to the thoughtfully crafted dishes and upscale atmosphere, it’s truly one of the best seafood restaurants in Chicago. While it is on the pricier side, the experience and flavors make it well worth it—especially for a special occasion or a memorable night out.
