Scofflaw

Before dinner at Giant just a few doors down, I stopped at Scofflaw, a well-known bar in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood that’s often praised for its creative cocktails and cozy, vintage-inspired atmosphere. It was the perfect pre-dinner stop and a great introduction to one of Chicago’s most iconic cocktail bars.
I started with the Field Portal cocktail, made with tequila, lemon, pear liqueur, ginger, lucky falernum, and egg white. It was perfectly balanced—bright citrus up front with subtle sweetness from the pear and falernum, rounded out by a foamy texture from the egg white.

Next, I ordered a Dirty Martini made with gin, house brine, and vermouth. The house brine really stood out, offering a blend of pickle, olive, and subtle balsamic notes that elevated the drink beyond a standard martini.

Overall, Scofflaw was the ideal place to start the evening. Between the inviting atmosphere, crafted cocktails, and standout gin martini, it’s easy to see why it’s considered one of the best cocktail bars in Chicago. I’ll definitely be coming back for another round before my next dinner in Logan Square.
