The Skeleton Root

The Skeleton Root is a hidden wine bar in Over the Rhine that makes its own wine and has a beautiful indoor/outdoor space to sit and enjoy the food and drinks.

I drove by The Skeleton Root while running errands one day, and it intrigued me that it wasn't in the usual restaurant area in the OTR neighborhood. Bailey, Grace, and I traveled to the wine bar after work on Friday for some drinks before dinner.

I love a place with wine flights, and The Skeleton Root had a few to choose from. Bailey and I decided on the white wine flights, and Grace tried a mix of white and red wines.

I loved that all of the wine was made in-house, and it tasted delicious. My favorite was the Seyval Blanc – it was the perfect wine on the drier side.

We also ordered a charcuterie board to accompany the sips and it was delicious with sun-dried tomatoes, assortments of cheese, and pita bread.

The Skeleton Root has been a place that I’ve wanted to try since I had seen it on the street. The decoration of the winery was fantastic and has a good vibe to it. The atmosphere could definitely use some work because we were the only ones in the restaurant, but we still had a good time and the wine and cheese were delicious.
